I wonder what really takes less time to absorb: reading a story, or watching something? (Like on Netflix) o.o
I think sometimes, I can be a slower reader, but there’s really no “set” time for reading, where as a show or movie can be 30 mins or more long with no fast forwarding.
I am voting I duno xD
But I also think maybe it’s fine I do a little of both, too, just to enjoy different types of ways stories can be presented.
Edit; this counts as a writing thread to me, since absorbing stories from other people can inspire one to have writing ideas in general xD (kinda like how looking at art can inspire more art. Stuff like that :3)

Reading usually takes longer (if you've ever seen an audiobook, you'll know that they can be several hours long), but it goes a lot more in-depth, which is a reason I prefer it. Movies based on books cut out a lot of scenes, because if they included everything, you could have a ten-hour-long movie.

Yeah, books can take longer (fanfics, maybe not as long). It can depend on the book, though, as kids books can be enjoyable too and also shorter but it also depends on what you want to read.

Your brain basically processes reading and listening similarly but uses different parts of your brain to do it. There are theories about listening to stories can improve empathy while reading is better for concentration and retaining information but these studies aren't really conclusive to my understanding. So it boils down to preference.
